Christel Hofmans

After her graduation from the Utrecht Art Academy in 1997, Christel Hofmans started working as a designer in a shared studio. Very often she worked together with other designers.

Christel works in commission for companies, galleries and institutions. In close consultation with the client she develops a concept,makes a design and takes care of the realization and production. Although she was trained as a product designer / jewellery designer she also takes assignments in graphical and interior design. She doesn’t mind what to design, as long as it fits the person, the occasion or the purpose. The idea is her most important starting point. The relationship between the product and the person who uses it, must be considered first. By designing, she likes to make a gesture, more than just a new product. Her work is often made in a small production, by various manufacturers.

For the future she would like to focus more on her own ideas, and as a second step, find herself a suitable client for her work. Until now it has been the other way around.
